There are 3 tool boxes, and just stuff. It's actually mostly organized too. The passenger compartment is fairly open as I took my carry on / clothes bag out already. I need a wall between me and tools like a cargo van so I don't die in a rollover.

It looks like you’re dragging someone by their boots from the rear bumper.

I have the wife’s old Equinox on the left there after we bought a van ( on right).

I've had this metro for 8.5 years. I wouldn't mind a truck or work van, but I also can't argue with 38mpg

Maybe something like a Honda Fit, would be the car for you? A lot more room than that little Metro, plus airbags, and a built in MP3 player and all that silly stuff. Honda’s Majic seat might come in handy for you. You could put the heavy/dangerous stuff behind the seats and still have room for your ladder and other longer/taller stiff in front of them. Loaded with 2 people and a weekends worth for camping gear and two bikes (the most loaded we’ve had it.) out Fit still averaged 33.5 mpg mostly with some 70+freeway driving, the only thing the Fit really doesn’t like. We drove the car down to Des Moins Iowa a few months ago, and during out freeway part of the trip about halfway down, and half way back up, the average economy dropped down to 31.4, but by the time we got back home it was about up to 34.5. And that's including a bit of city driving too.
